Jesus said in Matthew 4:19, "Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men". Men have to be caught by the Holy Ghost. John 6:44 says, "No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him". John 16:7-11 says, "Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send Him unto you. And when He is come, He will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: Of sin, because they believe not on Me; Of righteousness, because I go to My Father, and ye see Me no more;
Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged". Reproving the world of sin means that people are convicted or made aware of their sinful nature. Sin means to miss the mark of God or to transgress the law of God.
The Holy Ghost draws us to the Father and convicts of sin because of the Father's great, unconditional love for us. We, as believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, must let ourselves be vessels that He can do it through. Jesus said in Matthew 9:38, "Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that He will send forth laborers into His harvest". Are we willing to be one of those laborers? As you think about that relative, friend, neighbor, coworker, or person in some far away place that is lost, backslidden, lukewarm, deceived, and bound, think about yourself as a laborer to them to reach them with the love and power of God. To be a vessel or laborer means we are the vehicle by which the Holy Ghost can catch other people for the kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
